A small child read a poetry about Dreams of Indonesian Children in front of President Joko Widodo during ceremonies to commemorate the 70th year of independence at the state palace, Istana Merdeka, yesterday. “I'm proud, but I have dreams about Indonesia in the future. I dream that 10 years from now, corruption will no longer exist in Indonesia.”

After the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) recently snatched the couple Gatot Pujo Nugroho and Evy Susanti in an alleged corruption, the anti-graft body again named a couple as suspects, Regent of Musi Banyuasin Pahri Azhari and his wife Lucianty, in an alleged bribery to local city councilmen.

The Press Board had concluded their ethical hearings about news coverages that allegedly commit defamation against Professor of Criminal Law at Universitas Padjadjaran, Romli Atmasasmita. The Press Board ruled that Kompas and Tempo did not violate any press ethic codes, while The Jakarta Post was considered to violate the principles of cover both sides. This ruling proves that the case does not have any criminal dimension.

KPK criticized the policy taken by Ministry of Law and Human Rights to award remissions or reduction of prison time for 1,938 from a total of 2,786 corruption convicts. These remissions will undermine the deterrent effect on a criminal violation that have been categorized as an extraordinary crime.

After a delay from the previous schedule on Monday, August 10, 2015, the pretrial hearing filed by lawyer turned suspect OC Kaligis will commence today at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel). Kaligis disputed KPK's move to name him as suspect in an alleged bribery for judges at Medan Administrative Court.
